Suddenly, the birds are chirping.
Sunrise on Chesebro Canyon trail. Just as the sun rises, the birds begin chirping on cue. At this time of year, when the it gets bright early enough to get in a full run before work, I time my trails runs so that I arrive at the trailhead 15 minutes before the sun rises. It's light enough to begin running without a headlamp and make some progress on the trail by the time the sun rises. This photo is taken about 3 miles into the trail and the sun is just beginning to creast over the mountain. The grass is still wet with dew and the entire meadow is glistening and sparkling in the slanted rays. Just then the birds start chirping. It's exhilirating and expansive.
