Wabi sabi odalisque
Dear Grasslands, Your sunrise caught me by surprise. This morning I was running away from the sun, but I happened to trip and almost fall. After stumbling, I turned around and saw the sun rising over the ridge. Streaming sunbeams were lighting up the yellow grass and a weathered tree trunk. This tree trunk is far from any tree, it's almost like it was placed here deliberately. It's weathered and smooth and sits at the top of the hill just before a sharp turn in the trail. The tree trunk is reclining in the sunlight like an odalisque waiting for her lover. The transience of the weathered tree trunk, the yellowed grasses and the fleeting sunbeam create a moment of wabi sabi on the trail. If I hadn't stumbled I wouldn't have turned around to see the sunrise from this perspective.
