Wild Orchid with Maui Pali

Dear Wai'hee,

You were surprisingly easy to find. As I began the climb I greeted hikers with poles. I know why they had poles. Your steep, muddy, slippery climb is perfectly manageable on the way up. But highly questionable on the way down. I had to hang onto tree trunks and crouch down to crawl through your slippery route. It was all worth it of course. You started with a view of waterfalls and an endless canyon of vibrant green pali cliffs. I didn't notice your wild orchids until the return journey when I was almost on all fours trying not to slip down the steep muddy path.
