Dear Makawao,
Today you have a new guest. Only two days ago I went by and he wasn't there. Today he greeted me just past the brief switchback climb before the top. He's a cute little fellow. Perky and bright. He's growing just along the side of the trail in the protection of an emerging tree trunk. He's got serious personality and I wonder how long he'll be here.
