Wildflowers of Talepop

Dear Talepop,

Thank you for the flowers.

These bright little cuties are the only flowers on the trail today. It's been this way for months now but I still keep thinking of all the spring wildflowers that were lighting up your connector trails, Grasslands and Liberty Canyon. I came by this morning to thank you before I move to Hawaii. You have been my greatest love since I moved away from Rocky Oaks.

After the early morning bliss and daily easy access and soaring rocky vistas and swirling mist and spunky bobcats of Rocky Oaks, I didn't think I would find another trail that could compare. But you are so easy to love. Close by for easy access, filled with outrageous wildflowers (seasonally), covered in bright green grassy vistas, canyons filled with hovering mists, majestic oak trees decorated with prayer flags, and a swingset with a lovely hillside view at the trailhead.

When I first met you I climbed up past the oaks and rounded a corner to find a long, shady stretch of billowy green grass with narrow single track winding through it. It was love at first sight. I kept running and met your rolling hills of narrow single track stretching into the distance through a sea of green grass towards the majestic mountains of Malibu Creek State Park (the Yosemite of southern California) and then swooping down back into Liberty Canyon. I was breathless and head over heels in love.
