The Zigzagiest Road

Dear Lahaina Pali,

As usual on my first visit, I got lost. Blasted right past the trailhead and ended up at a dead end at the highway. But after two miles we found the trailhead and then headed straight up. There's a curious pyramid built of stones at the beginning framed by the expansive blue of Maalea Bay with Makena and Molokini in the distance. You are hot and dry, but you have glorious views. Your singetrack is endless and fits the description of the zigzagiest road. Cute little Maalea beach is the perfect place for a dip alongside the turtles getting tumbled in the waves.
