Leo on the Roof
As I was cleaning the cattery today I heard a distressed meow, a call for help. It was coming from the middle of the cattery. I looked in each room, but couldn’t track it down. Then I thought it was coming from outside. I went outside and searched all around and under the building. Finally, I thought to look on the roof.
There was Leo, on the very top of the second floor roof, crying like a baby. No ladder could reach that high. We’d have to get a ladder and put it on a lower roof to reach him. This same scenario happened just a few weeks ago with Sleepy. At that time, Caroline and I dragged a ladder onto the very thin, rickety corrugated roof, but it was too short to reach the top of the roof. Caroline could just barely grab the roof, but she turned into a monkey and somehow swung herself up onto the roof. She grabbed Sleepy by the scruff and handed him down to me. That was a few weeks ago.
Today we had help to reduce Leo. Ian, the carpenter, was on the roof with us and he held the ladder while Caroline swung like a monkey onto the roof. Then he held the ladder while I climbed up to receive Leo. He proved to be even more difficult to catch than Sleepy. But Caroline caught him and lowered him down to me. I hugged him tightly so he wouldn't escape while I quickly, but carefully, raced across the thin roof to get him back into the cattery. Just like Sleepy, he was so happy to be back inside. He went straight for the food and water.
